Additional Notes: Park Road has been cycling central in Brisbane for quite some time. There are bunch training rides leaving from La Dolce Vita everyday that cater for the needs of most serious cyclists. At 5:30am every weekday there is a 35km recovery (slower) ride. 6:00am on Wednesday is a 30km very fast ride and is definitely not for the faint-hearted, with speeds topping 50km/h on the flats. 6:00 am on Friday is the ‘Gentleman’s Ride’, a very popular 30km fast ride around the river. On Sunday, cyclists choose between a paceline that heads to the airport at 6:15am or a 65km fast bunch ride via the airport and Nudgee Beach.
ATTENTION: Park Road is the place where many of Brisbane’s more experienced riders tend to congregate. Many of the rides are quite fast and some of the cyclists are fairly aggressive. If you are new to bunch riding, this is not the place for you. However, once you gain some experience, are fit enough and can sit on a wheel confidently, it can be a great place to test yourself on some of the tougher rides around.
