About the Ride: This is a ride from Ashburton to Mordialloc via North Rd then Beach Rd. There is little traffic on the suburban streets at this early hour on the weekend. Beach Rd is a cycling mecca so relatively safe given that the motorists expect to see many cyclist sharing the road. The group rides at speeds in excess of 30km/hr however, this can vary depending on the coastal winds.
The car park at Mordialloc pier is the turning point and the riders stop at Blackrock for coffee on the return. Usually arrive back in Ashburton by 9.30am.
Additional Notes: There are also smaller groups riding to Blackrock (for coffee) and return to Ashburton, total distance 44km. These groups are usually at a slower pace e.g., 20+ km/hr.

OK, read the other comments – seems this was a one-off bad experience….
Can’t allow one negaitive comment to contradict 10 years of safe and friendly bunch riding with ARC. The popularity of their rides and riders has seen the ARC grow in numbers year on year and that is because new/inexperienced riders are encouraged and welcomed to riding. The more experienced can also be seen competing in club races in grades A – F and in the major challenge rides in Victoria. ARC riders strive to model safe riding behavior on all rides. Weight of rider numbers over many many group rides in 10 years is a very positive story in support of ARC. Please don’t judge on one negative report.
I would also request that the ADMIN check facts before posting unfounded and uncorroborated comments. I am looking forward to understanding more of the facts. Russell
rode with these guys on the weekend, no idea what they are doing all over the road. The worst rolling turns, nobody had any idea. Dont ride with them if you look at this post. they will cause an accident. WILL NEVER RIDE WITH THEM AGAIN
Fred, disheartened that you had a poor experience. Per our website we cater for wall experience levels. This means that you may have been riding with a less experienced group. I would welcome the opportunity to hear from you first hand about your experience last weekend. Russell
