About the Ride: The PALS Ride Group has two ride groups that cater for all levels of fitness. Both male and female riders of all ages are welcome. Various routes are ridden, with some being approximately 60-80 kilometres long. Currently, routes alternate between Gawler, Outer Harbour and Glenelg, with a Hills Ride on the last Sunday of each month.

Additional Notes: Everyone is welcome to join the group as long as they have an Australian Safety Standards approved helmet and a bicycle in safe running order. Road bikes are recommended. Guidelines for riding with the PALS group can be read here .

About the Ride: This ride is a one off on 21 Jan 2010 before the start of stage 3 of the tour down under. From the Hilton Hotel to Glenelg along Anzac Highway and back up the Anzac Highway to Unley and stage 3 start. A lot of the pro riders stop in at Luna Rosso before the race. Easy pace and will have support vehicle if you get stuck. Meet overseas and interstate riders and chat all things cycling.

Additional Notes: Remember the suncream, she is hot in Adelaide.

RIDE LIKE CRAZY at the Tour Down Under

Going to the Tour Down Under?

Sign up for the ‘Ride Like Crazy’ ride on Sunday the 17th of January for either a 109km or 53km ride which is supported by the Victorian Police and Every cent of profit raised during Ride Like Crazy 2010 supports the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation Inc and The Neurosurgical Research Foundation Inc.

About the Rides:
The 109km ride cost just $100 and Starts at Victoria Square, Adelaide, embark on Adelaide’s “most popular” hill climb to Crafers and then weave through the picturesque towns of the Adelaide Hills. The 53km ride starts at Woodside Oval, Woodside and join the full distance riders to Lobethal before descending along Gorge Road and finishing at Victoria Square, Adelaide. You’ll also get drinks, mechanical support and a free lunch at the end.

About the Ride: There are two or three groups of different speeds. We decide on routes and regroup points on the night, all aiming to finish about 9pm. Usually hilly unless the weather interferes.

Additional Notes: The fast group is A-C grade standard, and is smaller than the slow group.

About the Ride: The ride travels from North Adelaide to Outer Harbor via Grange and then Military Road. There is a sprint just before the Outer Harbor roundabout. Usually the bunch takes a breather here for a couple of minutes but then the pace is back on. It returns back down Port Road to the city and there is a sprint at the bridge opposite Clipsal on return. Average speed is around 40-45kph and usually the group consists of A & B grade riders.

We’ve had heaps of requests for more bunch rides in South Australia. With the Tour Down Under on, cyclists from all over the world are keen to join a few bunch rides while at the tour.

About the Ride: We are a group of VERY casual cyclists, aged between 40-50ish. Most of us only ride once a week. As we live in central Tour Down Under country we are trying to get fit enough to ride the Challenge Tour. As of August 09 we are doing 60 km per ride with an average speed 20-22kph We have a dozen or more cyclists but only 4-6 turn up on any given ride and never the same ones. The Adelaide Hills live up to their name. Nowhere we ride is flat but we wait at hill tops and intersections so we don’t lose anyone. Bring a banana etc and some money in case we stop mid ride for a coffee.
We usually have one back at the Blumberg when we get back to Birdwood as well. When the weather warms up we will make our start time earlier. Email me to be put on the weekly email list.

Additional Notes: We are definitely not serious cyclists so if you are looking for a fast and furious ride we are not for you.
