Dear orrsome 153. Racing is different to bunch riding as you may observe by watching the major tours and any other race.
Racing is also much safer because bunches comprise all sorts of rider with unknown skills. If you are not able to see the difference, please stick to bunch riding.

Some of you will have experienced the hoon behavior this morning Thursday 3rd March when we were buzzed by a black Navara reg ICON O. This has been reported to the police.
If anyone knows the driver, please let us all know!!!

Cycling safety was in the media today in the Age and on 774 and I bring your attention to an old subject of mine.
Many of you are not race experienced and perhaps cannot perceive the danger of turning right onto Ramsey Parade near the end of our ride.
Road racing cicuits never turn in front of oncoming traffic and in this case a vehicle traveling along Toorak Road will suddenly be confronted with a fast moving bunch turning in front of him/her.
Many of us like to beat the bunch home, so it is much safer to continue along Toorak Road and then sprint to the mail box.The road here is much smoother and wider than Ramsey Parade and it means we not sprinting into a town area along with pedestrians, dogs and other cyclists. After the sprint we can re group and enter town in a controlled manner. There have been many near misses and at least one accident involving Tom and Robyn comes to mind.
If we continue to treat Ramsey Parade as a race track we will create our own Hell Ride and come to the attention of the Police.
I mention this, not to be critical, but to improve the safety of all concerned including other road users.

After about 1500km on the new 150TPI Rubino Pros I'm sold. No flats, smooth ride, confident cornering, good in the wet.
